‘Necessity is the Mother of Invention’ – goes the saying and this is when the concept of smart teaching, digital technology and online teaching has come to the rescue. Within a snap of fingers everything changed. Amid Covid-19 disrupted academic year, cancelled classes and examination, students across India started using technological tools available to pursue studies. Traditional schooling changed to virtual classrooms and we all had to experience something so different. We had to connect with the students virtually and create an atmosphere as if they were in the same classroom.
“Students, am I audible?” “Is my screen visible?” “Please type your answers in the chat box” have become our daily questions. Have we ever thought of this situation, that it would change our entire life? For months now we have spent hours preparing for the online classes and challenging ourselves to give our best to the students. We have risen to this challenge, analysed the situation, thought of our strategies to define our perspective. Online teaching is slowly making inroads to conduct virtual classrooms and provide a learning platform by being in the comforts of our homes. Through online teaching we have also upgraded our skills in technology and teaching.
The lessons that we had planned for face-to-face situations are now in transition to remote education. It took us a little while to adapt to these activities and redefine our objectives. But yes, at the end there was a satisfaction and proud feeling of overcoming all the difficulties. With this new trend of teaching-learning mode also came a challenge for our students to actively participate in this learning process. RKDian’s are fighters, no doubt, but more than that they are an opportunist, they know well how to make the best use of e-learning techniques and embrace the new opportunities that it has to offer. We continue to take virtual classes as the need of an hour, but at the same time wanting and waiting to meet our students soon.
